Sam Loy |
On Sunday, June 27th, we will welcome our new pastor,
Sam Loy and his wife, Wanda. They are coming to us from Grace
Methodist Church in Clinton, NC. Rev. Sam is a graduate of Elon University
(‘82) and Duke Divinity School (‘86). He and his wife, Wanda, are natives of
the Burlington area. They have a son, Andrew, and a daughter Kathryn and her
husband Chris. The Loys have two granddaughters, Madison and Kristen. They
all live in the Greenville area.
Before responding to God’s call to become an ordained minister in 1981,
Pastor Sam maintained an electrical contractor’s license. He uses this
expertise to assist churches and individuals as part of his ministry.
While serving as associate pastor at St. James UMC in Greenville (‘86-‘92),
Sam grew a youth ministry involving over 200 youth and 25 adult counselors.
He also served as the founding president of the Greenville Homeless Shelter.
One of his favorite things to do is leading chapel with the 65+ children in
their church’s pre-school. Another is to organize and lead work teams,
especially disaster response teams. We look forward to welcoming this family
to Lake Waccamaw.

And moreover,
because the preacher was wise, he still taught the people knowledge; yea, he
gave good heed, and sought out, and set in order many proverbs. The preacher
sought to find out acceptable words: and that which was written was
upright, words of truth.
